ShadowPOS Hardware Compatibility

Created by Neil Honeck, Modified on Tue, 28 Jul at 3:16 PM by Neil Honeck

ShadowPOS is compatible with a wide range of generic hardware to alleviate the headaches and often high prices associated with proprietary point of sale tools. USB connectivity is the primary requirement. This is a non-exhaustive list of in-house tested equipment that we like so far.*

Barcode Scanners

We recommend a barcode scanner with a minimum feature set of USB connectivity and 2D plane readability

Receipt Printers

We recommend thermal printers with USB connectivity. Some premium models may also feature additional Bluetooth capabilities, but haven't been tested by ShadowPOS.

Cash Drawers

An electronic cash drawer is recommended for the convenience of automated opening during the checkout process. Currently an RJ11 to USB adapter is preferred for direct connection to a till rather than through a receipt printer.

Cash Drawer Adapters

As most cash drawers connect via RJ11/RJ12, this adapter allows conversion to USB for triggering through the POS.

Product Label Printers

We recommend product label printers with at least USB connectivity and ~25mm x ~50mm (~1"x ~2") format. The Rollo Label Printer is a top recommendation for its versatility in printing both shipping and product labels.

Shipping Label Printers

We recommend standard 4" x 6" label printers with at least USB connectivity. The Rollo Label Printer is a top recommendation for its versatility in printing both shipping and product labels.
